Ses pseudos et groupes
Il est connu aussi sous les autres pseudonymes suivants : MC New York, 2Pac, Makaveli et a appartenu aux groupes : One Nation Emcees, Two From The Crew, Strictly Dope, Digital Underground, Thug Life, Outlaw Immortalz/Outlawz.

Thug Life était un groupe de hip-hop fondé par Tupac Shakur en 1993. Ce groupe était composé, outre Tupac, de Big Syke, Mopreme, Macadoshis, et The Rated R. Un clin d'½il du destin est que The Notorious B.I.G. était à l'origine censé faire partie du groupe mais il a finalement choisi de se concentrer sur son travail avec le label Bad Boy Records. Le groupe a sortit son premier et unique album, Thug Life volume 1 chez Interscope en septembre 1994. Cet album fut remarqué notamment grâce à ses titres phares « Pour Out A Little Liquor » et « How Long Will They Mourn Me », deux morceaux en hommage à leurs homies (potes) disparus. Suite à l'incarcération de Tupac en 1995 et son départ pour Death Row Records, le groupe s'est séparé.

D'après Tupac, « T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E. » signifie « The Hate U (You) Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody » et il avait de plus édicté un code du Thug Life.

The Outlaw Immortalz ou The Outlawz (Operating Under Thug Laws As WarriorZ) est un groupe de rappeurs fondé en 1995 par Tupac Shakur. Les Outlawz n'ont jamais vraiment percé dans le monde de la musique à cause de l'assassinat du leader, Tupac Shakur, mais aussi celui d'un des membres, Yaki Kadafi.
